Twenty-three days after Thanos disintegrated half of the in the universe. Carol Danvers rescues Tony Stark and Nebula who were drifting in space with no food, water, and oxygen and returns them to Earth. They reunite with the other Avengers-Steve Rogers, Thor, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff, and James Rhodes and Rocket Raccoon before locating on another uninhabited planet. Together they plan to retake the Infinity Stones from Thanos and reverse its effects that vanished half of the universe, but then Thanos reveals that he used the Infinity Stones to destroy them and to prevent further use.
Enraged Thor decapitates Thanos.
Five years later Scott Lang escapes from the quantum realm and explains to Rogers and Romanoff that he experienced only five hours in the quantum realm while trapped. Theorizing that the quantum realm could allow time travel, the three ask Stark for help to retrieve the stones from the past and to reverse Thanos reactions in the present, Stark refuses thinking of his wife and his daughter but relents after looking at a picture of himself and late Peter Parker. Banner who has since merged with Hulk's Strength with Stark builds a time machine. Banner notices that changing the past does change the present instead it creates a branched alternate reality. Banner and Rocket visit the Asgardian refugee's new home in Norway-new Asgard to recruit Thor, now overweight and drinking heavily with his inner grieve for not able to stop Thanos. In Tokyo Romanoff recruits Clint Barton, now a vigilante following the disintegration of his family.
Steve Rogers, Scott Lang, Bruce Banner, and Stark travel back to New York City in 2012. Banner visits the Sanctum Sanctorum and convinces the Ancient one to give him the Time Stone. At Stark Tower, Steve Rogers retrieves the Mind stone but Stark and Scott Lang attempt to steal the Space stone fails, which also helps 2012 Loki to escape with it and therefore Stark and Steve Rogers travel to S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters in 1970 where Stark gets an earlier version of the Space stone and encounters his father Howard Stark while Steve Rogers steal the Pym particles from Hank Pym's lab to return to the present. Meanwhile, Rocket and Thor travel to Asgard in 2013, extracting the Reality Stone from Jane Foster and retrieving Thor's Hammer, Mjolnir. Rhodes and Nebula travel to Morag in 2014 and steal the Power Stone before Peter Quill can. Rhodes returns with the Power Stone to the present but Nebula is Incapacitated when her cybernetic Implants links with those to her past self. Through this connection, 2014 Thanos learns about his future success for gathering the Infinity Stones and attempt of Avengers to undo it. He captures Nebula and sends 2014 Nebula to the present in the former's place. Barton with Romanoff travels to Vormir in 2014 to get the Soul Stone, where the Soul Stone keeper Red Skull reveals it can only be acquired by sacrificing someone the love. Romanoff sacrifices herself and allowing Barton to get the Soul Stone.
After Reuniting in the present, the Avengers place the Stones into the Gauntlet created by Stark, which Bruce Banner, resistant to Stones Gamma radiation uses to resurrect the disintegrated. 2014 Nebula uses the time machine to transport 2014 Thanos with his warship in the present where he attacks and destroys the Avengers compound, planning to destroy and rebuild the the the universe with the Stones. Nebula convinces 2014 to betray 2014 Thanos but fails to convince 2014 Nebula and is forced to kill her. Steve Rogers, Stark, and Thor attack and try to kill Thanos but are outmatched. Thanos summons his army to destroy Earth but a restored Stephen Strange arrives with other sorcerers, the restored Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, armies of Asgard and Wakanda, and the Ravagers to fight Thanos and his army alongside Captain Marvel who destroys Thanos warship as she arrives after overpowering the heroes Thanos seizes the Gauntlet but Stark steals the stones back uses it to disintegrate Thanos and his army which also costed his life.
